Hotshot dispatch questions, answered
Short answers, each with a link to the page that goes deeper.
Pricing
What does your hotshot dispatch cost?
7% of gross load pay for one truck, 6% per truck for fleets of 2 or more (limited-time). See the pricing page for the full terms and the fee calculator.
Are there setup fees, minimums or a contract?
No setup fee, no minimums, month to month, and you can cancel with 30 days notice. The pricing page lists every term.
Do I pay anything in a week I don't haul?
No. The fee applies only to loads you haul. If you don't haul, you don't pay.
Do new authorities pay more?
No. New MCs pay the same 7%.
Getting started
How do I sign up for dispatch?
Apply in about a minute with the quick-apply button or the full application. A dispatcher calls you back, sets up your profile and sends the agreement. The steps are on how it works.
Which setups do you dispatch?
Do you dispatch semis, box trucks or dry vans?
No. We only dispatch hotshot setups.
Can you dispatch more than one truck?
Yes. Fleets of 2 or more get the fleet rate and per-truck reports; see hotshot fleet dispatch.
I don't have my authority yet. Can I still apply?
Yes. Apply and tell us where your application stands. Our startup guide covers every registration in order.
How loads are booked
Where do your hotshot loads come from?
Major load boards plus our direct broker and shipper contacts. The hotshot loads page explains each source.
Do I approve every load?
Yes. Every offer comes to you with the rate, miles, weight and pickup window before it's booked. Try the example rate con on how it works.
How do you keep non-CDL loads under 26,000 lb?
We keep your door-jamb sticker and trailer VIN plate ratings on file and check every load's weight against them before it reaches you. The rule itself is explained in the non-CDL requirements guide.
Will you book loads under my minimum rate?
No. You set a minimum per total mile once, and every offer clears it. The rate calculator helps you set it.
Do you promise a number of loads or a weekly income?
No. Freight and rates move with the market. We commit to the work: searching, calling and negotiating on every load.
Paperwork
What documents do you need from me?
MC and USDOT numbers, a W-9, a certificate of insurance, and a notice of assignment if you factor, plus your truck and trailer ratings. The list is on how it works.
Who handles broker setup and rate cons?
We do: carrier packets, broker setups, rate confirmations, check calls and detention or TONU claims. You sign rate cons for the loads you approve.
Are you a broker?
No. We're a dispatch service working for you, the carrier. Brokers pay you, or your factoring company, directly. We're also not a load board, insurance agency, lender or law firm.
Who gets paid for the load?
You do, under your own authority. Our fee is figured from the gross on each load you haul and billed under the dispatch agreement.
